Senior Tax Accountant

Role Outline

Working as a Senior Tax Accountant reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for developing tax strategy, mitigating tax risk through planning, reporting and control, financial accounting and management accounting activities.  This person will assist the Financial Controller by ensuring we are tax compliant the balance sheet is maintained and that accounting information is reported timely and accurately.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain all foreign and domestic sales tax accounts reporting reconciliation and submission
  • Develop plans, processes and controls around all tax liabilities for current and proposed markets
  • Internal audit of sales and purchase agreements/contracts
  • Maintain the bank account reconciliations
  • Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts
  • Support the Financial Controller with the monthly and annual financial planning processes as per the planning timetables
  • Support sales team and business with tax treatment
  • Assist in the production of statutory accounts under FRS 102 and applicable UK law
  • UK Corporation Tax reporting and submission
  • Deferred tax calculations, capital allowance tracking and business entertaining reporting
  • Monthly management accounts as per the month end timetable and management reporting
  • Assist in the Accountant’s or Financial Controller ‘s absence
  • Produce quarterly reports for Office National Statistics
  • Ad-hoc queries

Competencies and Skills Required


  • Qualified accountant with 2/3 years PQE
  • Excellent Attention to detail
  • Excellent UK & European VAT knowledge
  • Practical and logical approach to problem solving
  • Strong Financial and Management Accounting skills
  • Advance Excel knowledge
  • Flexible approach to work and ability to learn
  • Ability to communicate clearly to finance and non finance people
  • Proven ability to plan, organize and prioritise own workload
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • The ability to work closely within a team of 8
  • The ability to identify process and control improvements
  • Resilient and enthusiastic character


  • Conference industry background
  • Understanding of UK Corporation Tax process
